Living in Miami

Hello all,

I just want to do a bit of advertising for Miami and let you know of my experience of the ‘Miami lifestyle’ so far.

Firstly, two things you will get here that are among the BEST IN THE WORLD and you won’t get back in the UK are the beaches and the weather.
South Beach is one of the most famous beaches in the world, its a very long beach also very commercial with lots of people and lots of events happening.  However if your wanting more of a chilled beach there is the nearby Key Biscayne which is so quiet that it’s almost like a private beach surrounded in palm trees.  Also, the sunshine has never disapointed, I have been viewing pictures online from the recent snow storm in the UK and then I just thank the international department that they made it possible for me to come here!

If your into travelling while your in Miami there is also so much to see.  You can make the very nice drive down to the most Southern point in the US, Key West.  It has very nice beaches and a very lively atmosphere with many bars and clubs.  Dominican Republic is also a very popular holiday spot which you can take a quick flight too.  Spring Break is approaching here and we’re all in the process of booking our flights, at the moment we’re considering Cancun or Jamaica…  Since Miami is in the South of the US you are not far away from South America so it’s worth while to check out while your here.

Another aspect of Miami that is out of this world are the clubs!  South Beach is notorious for having the best clubs in the world and having been to a lot of clubs here, it’s going to be hard to adjust to going back to clubs back home.  There are so many different clubs with different themes that you’ll never be disapointed, the DJs spin the best music and you never know which celebrities you will see in the club… I’ve already bumped into Paris Hilton, John Legend, the Miami Heat basketball team, Akon, Timbaland and more.

The actual university is pretty good too.  Miami is a private university so you will benefit from a very good education and I can tell you first hand that international students get taken care of very well.  All the classes I wanted to take were full but as soon as I explained I am an international student they gave me an overide into all the classes I wanted!

If you have any questions about Miami or the university feel free to reply to this post.

Take it easy
