FINALLY!!! I got an email from Singapore today confirming me as a non-graduating student at NUS!!! I want to fly out 3 weeks on Friday, but I still haven’t booked my flights because so many things have gone wrong for me that I didn’t want to tempt fate! First of all, I missed one of my final exams in Glasgow because I was ill, so now I have to take it as a first sitting in August at the British Council in Singapore. It’s definitely the most expensive illness i’ve ever had because it’s costing me almost £300 to do it there!!! Then, like some of the other students, I had an email saying that i’d been rejected from some of the courses i’d applied for and I didn’t even have the minimum number of 3 required! Now i’m enrolled on about 10 random Geography courses, which weren’t exactly my first choices, but I only have to do 6 so I’ll just pick the best ones when I get out there!!!
Something else that’s worrying me is that the accomodation office haven’t let me know about which halls i’m in!!! Considering its getting so close to me going I think I need to start looking into off-campus places to stay… but I don’t really want to have to do that because staying in halls is definitely the best way to meet people and make friends!
I’m hoping that as soon as I arrive all these annoying little incoveniences will pail in comparison to me being out there, but I didn’t know there would be so many forms, emails and letters involved in what I thought would be a relatively simple process!!!

p.s. I hope I don’t sound like a proper moaner because I know that a lot of you will probably be experiencing the same frustrations I am!

I hope you’ll have a good time in Singapore. Its really a fine island. I’m from singapore, but I’m going over to Uni of Glasgow for a 1 year exchange programme!
Drop me an email if you need help with anything, I’m more than willing to do what I can. Planning things continents away can be really frustrating sometimes even with technology.
I can also help with recommendations for good restaurants, coffee shops, shopping, etc. : )
i forgot to include my email! its letterstosam@gmail.com.
Hi Maria, hows it going in Singapore? I hope you are well and have settled in to your new surroundings, The weather here during the last two weeks has been awful. Portia has just returned from her summer job at Eton, she really enjoyed it!! We are looking for a last minute holiday at the moment to the Maldives. Take care Linda xxx
